About Me
Austin is a gentle soul with a fiery determination. Often during a massage he will close his eyes, forget about the time, and just work (he rarely finishes a massage in the allotted time). These are the steps he imagines: First, you must gain trust, which is usually determined quickly by instincts. Second is relaxation with soothing touch, and third is deeper muscle manipulation. This is where Austin thrives, finding the intricacies of each individual muscle and how it affects the body.
His Philosophy: There are two systems in the brain that everyone will resort to in any situation in life.
- The Sympathetic nervous system this is the fight or flight instinct. This is where we spend most of our time. It's active when we a have goal that we're are trying to get done (working, cooking, cleaning) and you're constantly evaluating making sure that everything is done correctly and is okay.
- The Parasympathetic nervous system this is the rest and digest instinct. It's most similar to sleeping which is where our bodies restore and recharge, and this is why massage and relaxation help reduce mental and physical stress. This is the goal during the massage, to put you into a relaxed state so that you can do the healing.
Austin graduated in 2018 from The Oriental Healing Arts Center in Alaska and has been practicing since. He learned from a variety of masters who had been practicing massage for 30+ years and gave him insight to unique philosophies, modalities, and techniques. He has been trained in:
- Swedish..... (Relaxation with soothing strokes and oil)
- Chair.... (Fast paced and convenient massage. Focuses on the neck, shoulders, and back)
- Deep-tissue.... (Deep muscle manipulation to release lactic acid from sore muscles, helps with recovery time)
- Energy-healing (Reiki)....(Focuses on the soul. Massages the vibrations by being an influence in your presence)
- Chinese Five-Element Theory.... (A way to explain diseases and how to restore the body back to balance)
- Acupressure.... (Uses Chinese Five-Element theory and their specific pressure points to balance the elements)
- Cupping.... (Uses suction cups for deep muscle release, also used on acupressure points)
- Moxa... (A plant that is ground up and burned on or close to acupressure points as a burst of Fire energy)
- Gua-sha.... (Uses a spoon like tool and oil to push fluids through the skin helping with lymph and circulation).
Most of these can be added to any massage. Check out the prices here Services
